Kurbits are scandinavian symbols inspired by plant fertility . The name comes from the latin cucurbita, that means pumpkin. Kurbits are mainly used for decoration in swedish folk art, painted on furnitures and household objects. Often with teaching purposes, describing biblical scenes or illustrating stories. They are characterized by symmetry, bright colors and repeating patterns. In my case, symbols that traditionally have been associated with fertility and motherhood: rabbits, chickens, apples, nuts.
